The kitchen is the room where we spend most of our time: we eat there, watch TV, study, work or do our hobbies. It could be considered as one of the most important areas of a home.
It is very difficult to be able to cook a great dish if we cannot see or eat in a poorly lit kitchen. Let’s see which are the steps to consider to correctly illuminate your kitchen
General kitchen lighting
It is the ambient lighting, which is always done from the ceiling by using downlights embedded in ceilings where possible or with surface LED lights.
We can install several units of low power lighting systems (6W to 12W) distributed on the ceiling of our kitchen or opt for a high power system (24W to 48W) located in the center of the room.
For high ceilings, we can also use hanging lamps or LED hoods that are now very fashionable.
Kitchen table lighting
This type of lighting is done by means of suspended lamps centered above the table that generates a warm and welcoming zenithal light.
Normally the lamp should be placed about 150 cm above the table.

The lighting of kitchen furniture
This type of lighting is quite useful and attractive, due to its size and ease of installation the best option is to use LED strips inside the cabinets or drawers.
In addition, it is advisable to use profiles for LED strips and proximity or movement sensors that are small and special for this type of application, to achieve automatic activation of the lighting when the door or drawer is opened.
Work area lighting – worktops
In order to work properly in the kitchen, it is necessary that there are no shadows produced by us on the work surface, the solution to this would be to light our worktop from the bottom of the furniture.
For this we can use:
Adhesive LED strips inserted in corner LED profiles, embedded in the furniture or on the surface.
You can also use T5 strips that work directly at 220V, there are different sizes and can be interconnected with each other.
